In a quiet village on Thailand's border with Malaysia, a mixed-faith community of Buddhists and Muslims live in peace, though this could change to animosity at any time, just like in some nearby areas. This fragile unity is strengthened by a locally inspired and run community enterprise offering craft work to young men and women of both religions equally.
Most of their products are made from used coconut shells collected from local markets and carefully selected to suit each type of product. Cutting, polishing and applying strong softwood handles requires trained skill and any eye for detail. The coconut serving dish in this Collection is an example of this craftsmanship and technique.
